Goodna Group

Goodna Group BuildingDue to the overwhelming response to a recruiting drive after the ‘74 floods a group was formed in the Goodna area in June 1974. They met at the Goodna State School until 1980, when they moved to the Goodna Special School until 1985.

With the assistance of the Moreton Shire Council, a new building was commissioned in 1987. Members fundraised to fit out and furnish the inside of the headquarters. A second-hand vehicle was purchased in 1989 and the State supplied a floodboat for the group. With the assistance from the Ipswich City Council all vehicles were upgraded in 1997. This included a new troop carrier and a 2.4 tonne dual cab truck. Membership has grown steadily over the years and the high standard of training is shown by this group who have won the Annual State Rescue final 3 times and have come not less than third in the remaining five finals.  Current membership is 26 active and 17 reserves.

In 1998 a cadet group was started in the Goodna area giving 38 young adults the opportunity to learn about SES.

Goodna Member of the Year 2007

The Goodna group has held their annual member of the year at their headquarters. Congratulations go to the 2007 winner, Warwick Jones. Well done Warwick.

The theme this year was mediaeval which was well supported. The party started with a demonstrated fight with real swords and armour.

A great time was had by all those who attended and planning has already started for next years event.
