On this page we pay special tribute to our people who, through their involvement with the State Emergency Service and Cadets, have been presented special awards and certificates in recognition for their unselfish help to organizations and individuals in our community. We are very proud of them and express our appreciation to them all.

At a recent ceremony held at the Ipswich headquarters 3 members were awarded with National Medals and 41 members with the State Emergency Service Meritorious Service Medal.

The service was attended by The Honourable Pat Purcell MP Minister for Emergency Services, Mr Wayne Wendt MP for Ipswich West, Cr Paul Pissasale Mayor Ipswich City Council, Cr Trevor Nardi, special guests and unit members and their families. In all 110 people braved one of the hottest March days in 2 decades.

The day was a huge success.

And the Cadets Gave a Helping Hand

Seven Emergency Services cadets and two assistant leaders also attended the Awards Ceremony at Ipswich HQ on the 11 March.

They made sure that all attending had a bottle of cold water to drink and sold tickets in the raffle they are running to raise funds for the Relay for Life Cancer appeal in which they are participating.

Long Service Awards

Four members from the Unit were presented with awards at a ceremony in Springwood.

Howard and Jacky Hancock were presented with their 15 year National medal, Chris Draper was presented with a 15 and 20 year Meritorious Certificate and Chris Ball, who was unable to attend, was presented with a 30 year Meritorious Certificate.
